VIRGINIA ORGANIC PRODUCERS’ AND CONSUMERS’ ASSOCIATION, Ltd.

Virginia Organic Producers’ and Consumers’ Association, Ltd. (VOPCA) was founded to bring organic farming, consumers, government, environmental and economic interests together, expanding and promoting organic farming and organic markets in the state of Virginia, preserving farm land and open space.

VOPCA was founded on the basis that it would be able to facilitate the following since its inception:

  1. provide strong agricultural business and marketing leadership for the Virginia organic farming community and flexible, responsive support;
  2. preserve small-scale agriculture, open space, promote land conservation, and consumer health issues through sustainable and natural farming practices;
  3. set policy agenda for statewide government and private-sector partners;
  4. provide Virginia consumers with ready information on organic farming practice, and serve as a resource guide for organic and natural farm produce and other products.

VOPCA identifies opportunities and support systems, including current business guidance, marketing resources, and lobbying to the Virginia organic farmer and producer to advance its’ mission in support of the practice of sustainable agriculture. This is to be accomplished through a variety of means, including educational forums, workshops, speaker series and one-on-one meetings between farmers, consumers, producers and policy-makers.
